In the spirit of wiener dog racing, entering of larger dogs and longer legged dogs is discouraged.

Saturday August 1, 2026 – Baseball Field – Vergas, MN
- Registration & Practice 8:00 – 8:45 AM
- Check in for those pre-registered 8:00 – 8:45 AM
- Wiener Races 9:00 AM
Rules and Regulations:
NEW THIS YEAR! Behind the starting line is a “‘RACERS STAGING AREA”.
All racers and their handlers are encouraged to use this area as they are awaiting their next race.
- At the finish line there is a 5’ wide “NO OWNER ZONE” that allows the racer to cross the finish line at full speed. Owners are prohibited in this area during the race to allow our judges a more accurate view of the finish line.
- All racers must be dachshunds (or kind of look like a dachshund). In the spirit of wiener dog racing, entering of larger dogs and longer legged dogs is discouraged.
- All dogs MUST be on a leash at all times unless racing.
- The entire race area will be fenced to protect your pet.
- Owners are required to clean up after their pet.
- All dogs MUST be on their best behavior (no fighting or biting).
- Two humans are required to assist your racer (1 on each end of track – toys, treats, etc. are recommended for bribing your wiener down the track; no throwing of toys).
- Each heat race will consist of up to 8 racers with the top finishers advancing.
- ALL WIENERS ARE GUARANTEED AT LEAST TWO RACES!
- Further instructions and any rule changes will be issued on race day.
- All other leashed pets are welcome as cheerleaders.
- $20 registration fee for racers (Maximum $30 per household example: 3 racers from same household pays $30 total) No charge for spectators.
